Discover Equine Informed Awareness

A unique method to reach mindfulness, self-awareness & personal growth.

WHAT IS EQUINE INFORMED AWARENESS
& WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

improve your mental health

Equine Informed Awareness (EIA) offers a safe space for clients to interact with horses without riding them. Scientific evidence shows that interaction with horses, & even by just being in their presence, improves health, well-being, and helps with anxiety, depression, trauma, as well as physical and mental challenges

learn valuable skills

All sessions are tailored to the specific goals and needs of each client. This includes selecting activities for the client to explore with the horses ‘on the ground’ (not horse-riding). Experiential learning ensures the client receives maximum life, leadership and relationship skill development.

with the help of horses

Activities within a session can include mindfulness through grooming, leadership through liberty work (no leads or halters, the horse moves freely with you on a walk or around an obstacle course), walking the horse with a lead rope, exploring the horse’s reactions to your body language and energy.

How does EIA work?

Equine Informed Awareness works because clients are in the healing & regulating energetic field of horses, which magnifies somatic practices to increase the client’s capacity for empowerment, emotional resilience, and nervous system regulation.

EIA is a somatic based modality.  This means the approach taken in sessions is less about talking and accessing the rational brain and more about focusing on the body to inform insights.

This approach allows self-awareness and new meanings to arise organically through working with the body’s responses to thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Horses, Heartache & Healing

A book by Elizabeth Denniss

Horses, Heartache and Healing is an authentic story written from the heart by a woman of great depth and wisdom. The story of wild born horses, rescued from drought and certain death is a fascinating tale. Elizabeth takes the reader on a first hand journey to Outback Australia and then into another realm of healing, growth and personal development through the way of the horse. In sharing her experiences – the joy, laughter and tears – Elizabeth explains how equine facilitated learning offers unique therapeutic benefits to anyone blessed to have interactions with horses. The story beings in 2005 when a group of horse lovers from Margaret River, a small town in the south west of Western Australia, heard about some unique heritage brumbies that were at risk of dying out completely due to severe drought…”
